Kleis should have celebrated her birthday, but instead she is disgraced when Apollo renounces their engagement for Phaedra and attempts to sideline her as a concubine. She refuses, and with Zeus and Hera backing her, she turns to Ares. Apollo then neglects his sacred duty, casting the mortal realm into seven days of darkness; in the fallout, he loses his heir status and Ares takes his place, leaving Kleis with the triumph she deserves.
